Arthur Robinson and Roy Spencer to be recognized at upcoming conference in Las Vegas
for speaking out against global warming ‘alarmism’
Two distinguished scientists will receive special recognition at a major gathering of global warming “skeptics” taking place in Las Vegas on July 7–9, 2014, the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change.
Dr. Arthur B. Robinson, a distinguished chemist, will receive the Voice of Reason Award presented by The Heartland Institute, while Dr. Roy Spencer, a distinguished climate scientist, will receive the Outstanding Evangelical Climate Scientist Award presented by The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation.
Global Warming Debate The debate over the causes and consequences of global warming (or “climate change”) is one of the great controversies of the modern era. While environmental activists and some politicians claim “the debate is over” and call for immediate action to reduce man-made greenhouse gas emissions, others say the science points to only a very small human impact – too small to warrant concern – and the costs of trying to prevent global warming far exceed the benefits.
Ninth International Conference on Climate Change The Ninth International Conference on Climate Change is expected to attract nearly 1,000 speakers, scientists, and guests willing to question whether man-made global warming is a problem worth addressing. The event has 31 cosponsors and features 60 prominent scientists and economists as keynoters or panelists.

Dr. Arthur B. Robinson Dr. Arthur B. Robinson is a distinguished chemist, cofounder of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, and editor of the newsletter Access to Energy.
Dr. Robinson organized the Petition Project, a statement firmly rejecting global warming alarmism signed by more than 31,000 U.S. scientists. The petition demonstrates beyond doubt that the scientific debate is not over and suggests instead that most scientists do not believe global warming is a crisis.
“Dr. Robinson is a hero not just among global warming skeptics, but among many working scientists, engineers, and concerned citizens who have long sought his advice and insights on a wide range of scientific and energy-related issues,” said Joseph Bast, president of The Heartland Institute.

Dr. Roy Spencer Dr. Spencer was a senior scientist for climate studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where he and Dr. John Christy received NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for their global temperature monitoring work with satellites. He is now a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville
Dr. Spencer’s diligent work on tracking the planet’s temperature provides a tamper-proof source of data with which to test predictions of man-made global warming. He is the author of many scholarly articles and two books questioning the scientific claims made by advocates of the man-made global warming theory.

Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation is a network of theologians, pastors, other ministry leaders, scientists, economists, other scholars, and policy experts committed to applying Biblical principles to the twin challenges of economic development for the very poor around the world and wise Earth stewardship.
The Cornwall Alliance is presenting its first Outstanding Evangelical Climate Scientist Award to Dr. Roy Spencer, who has made no secret of his evangelical faith, making him a model and inspiration for other scientists and evangelicals alike.
“Dr. Roy Spencer is a rare breed: an outstanding practicing scientist who also understands that science, from the Middle Ages to the present, is founded on the Biblical worldview,” said Dr. E. Calvin Beisner, national spokesman for the alliance. “Roy has shown the courage to enter a highly controversial debate and to conduct his part in it with consummate faith and reason,” Beisner said.
